A civil society activist, management consultant and procurement professional, Mr. Mohammed Bougei Attah, has called on members of the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to work for the emergence of Saliu Mustapha, an aspirant for the Chairmanship of the party, stating that “Saliu Mustapha is the best among all the contestants.”
Mr. Attah who made the call on Wednesday while discussing with journalists on the current ugly situation of the country, said the ruling APC and the Nigerian people need progressive leaders who have what it takes to engage in politics without bitterness, as well as eschew bad governance from the system.
He said “if fairness, sincerity of purpose and service to the people are major elements of a leader, then we need the likes of Musty,” as he’s fondly called by his friends.
Attah, who is a childhood friend and colleague of Saliu Mustapha described him as a unique personality and rare in our type of leadership today. He further described the aspirant as “a lover of peace and people in whose life I find expressed the attributes of a God-fearing person.”
Attah, who has known Mustapha for more than 20 years, recalled an investment relationship between the two saying: “Together, we started the publication of NGO Network, a general interest magazine for the nonprofit sector in Nigeria that lasted for 10 years,” adding that “without expecting any financial return but for his conviction that the tabloid will positively impact the society, Mustapha supported the startup with his savings.”
“As a young man with no regular income who has not worked in the public sector then, it will be right to say he has earned his decent living by investment in others,” Attah added.
Attah further said that though he is not a politician and have not had any relationship with the other aspirants, their public services in the last ten years compared to that of Mustapha are enough to evaluate them.
He therefore advised the leadership of the ruling party, APC to make a good choice in Mustapha for good governance, leadership and service to the people.
