Barely 24 hours after the death of former Emir of Gaya, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, the Kano State Government on Sunday announced the appointment of Alhaji Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya, as the new Emir of Gaya Emirate.
Announcing the appointment, the Secretary to the Kano State Government, Alhajj Usman Alhaji, on behalf of the Governor Abdullahi Ganduje, congratulated the new emir.
He said: “The Kano State Governor, Dr Abdullahi Ganduje, by the power conferred on him by the Kano Emirate Law 2020 as amended, approved the appointment of Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya as the new Emir of Gaya Emirate.
“The appointment followed the recommendation of the Gaya Emirate kingmakers after the presentation of three candidates from which his Excellency, the Governor approved the appointment of Aliyu Ibrahim Gaya as the new emir.”

“Until his appointment, the emir was the Chiroman Gaya, who now succeeds his late father, Alhaji Ibrahim Abdulkadir, who died on Wednesday, September 22, 2021.”
