2026 Osun guber aspirant, Dotun Babayemi backs APC Leadership, says Party’s unity comes before personal ambition

The internal conversations within the Osun State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) over the selection of its 2026 governorship candidate took a new turn on Wednesday as leading aspirant Omooba Dotun Babayemi publicly reaffirmed his loyalty to the party’s leadership and its final decision on who flies the ticket.

In a statement issued by Babayemi, the APC chieftain addressed the recent debates and tensions within the party, noting that the process of choosing the party’s candidate has naturally placed the Osun chapter in the spotlight.

Babayemi revealed that he had personally toured 299 out of the 332 wards in Osun State, campaigning and spreading President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope message.

He emphasised that throughout his engagements, he consistently made it clear that the party remains supreme, and he remains committed to its final decision for the 2026 race.

According to him, both the national and state leadership of the APC under the guidance of President Bola Tinubu have been working tirelessly in recent days to resolve emerging issues and pave the way for a united front ahead of 2026.

“The leadership of our party has been busy resolving the issues cropping up, with a view to reaching a workable resolution that will leave our party united and able to regain power in Osun come 2026,” he stated.

Reaffirming his loyalty, Babayemi declared his readiness to abide by any resolution taken by the party concerning the governorship ticket.

He stressed that the goal of restoring good governance to Osun State outweighs any individual aspiration.

“I restate my commitment to the ideals of the Progressive, the actualization of our shared goals supersedes any individual desires,” he added.

He concluded by praying for divine guidance for the party’s leaders as they navigate the critical decisions ahead.

The statement was e-signed by Omooba Dotun Babayemi, signalling his continued alignment with the APC’s wider strategic direction as the countdown to the 2026 governorship election intensifies.
