Secretary-General of APC-UK and aspirant for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat, Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro, has paid glowing tribute to former Osun State Governor and first Interim National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, as he marks his 87th birthday.
In a statement commemorating the milestone, Chief Obaro described Chief Akande as a rare breed of nationalist, an accomplished statesman, a disciplined political leader, and a committed democrat whose enduring contributions have profoundly shaped the political evolution of Osun State, the South-West, and Nigeria as a whole.
He noted that Chief Akande has consistently emerged as a courageous and principled voice within the Nigerian federation at defining moments in the nation’s history, adding that his integrity, moral authority, and honour continue to command respect across political divides in the shared pursuit of a united, peaceful, progressive, and indivisible Nigeria.
Chief Obaro recalled that the elder statesman remains one of the foremost founding pillars of the APC, a party which he carefully nurtured alongside other visionary leaders from its formative stage into a formidable, election-winning platform. According to him, the APC’s successful transition from an opposition alliance to a governing party stands as a testament to Chief Akande’s foresight, discipline, and democratic convictions.
The Kogi-born politician further described Chief Akande as an exemplary leader and a moral compass whose life of service, sacrifice, consistency, and discipline should serve as a reference point for today’s political office holders and emerging leaders.
