Ex-deputy speaker, Tokunbo Oshin dies at 66

The Ogun State political landscape has been thrown into mourning with the death of Dr. Tokunbo Oshin, a former Deputy Speaker of the Ogun State House of Assembly.

He was 66 years old.

According to reports, Dr. Oshin died on Saturday night at a private hospital in Sagamu from a brief illness.

His death was confirmed by Ogun State Commissioner for Community Development and Cooperatives, Ademola Balogun, who described it as a “big loss” to the All Progressives Congress and Ijebu Igbo town.

Dr. Oshin had a distinguished career in politics and academia, serving as Deputy Speaker between 2003 and 2007 and representing the Ijebu North State constituency 1 between 2007 and 2011.

He was also a former lecturer at Tai Solarin University of Education and a member of the Board of the Small & Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN).

Tributes have poured in for the late Dr. Tokunbo Oshin, with Engr. Bayo Dayo, a former state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, describing his death as “shocking and least expected.”

Dayo praised Dr. Oshin as a “true friend” and expressed his condolences to the family.
