Gov. Ademola Adeleke of Osun on Monday in Osogbo signed the 2026 budget of N723 billion into law .
This is contained in a statement by the governor’s spokesperson, Malam Olawale Rasheed in Osogbo.
According to the statement, the governor signed the budget in the presence of his cabinet members and deputy, Kola Adewusi.
Adeleke said the budget was signed into law to consolidate and expand governance and service delivery in line with the five-point agenda of his administration.
He stated that the budget, which is the last in the final year of his first term, would be used to complete ongoing projects and launch new initiatives for the good of the people of the state.
“Our administration has, in the last three budget years, laid a solid foundation for the sustainable development of our dear state,” he said.
“We completed many abandoned projects and launched new ones. We paid billions of naira in pension and salary debts.
” We targeted workers’ welfare, approved and implemented payments of promotions arrears, and paid many allowances which the previous government neglected”, he said.
Adeleke reeled out other achievements of his administration, adding that the outcomes and outputs of the budget in the last three years had been very positive.
He cited Debt Management Office statistics, saying the state’s debt profile dropped from 80 per cent in 2022 to 40 per cent.
Adeleke commended the people of the state for their unwavering faith in his leadership, adding that their strong goodwill strengthens his resolve to work only for public interest and public good.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor presented a budget of N705 billion for 2026 on Nov. 12, but it was later reviewed upward to N723 billion when it was passed by the state assembly on Dec. 23.
