Governor Ododo hails DSS boss Ajayi on IPI press freedom award

Gov. Ahmed Ododo of Kogi, has congratulated the Director-General, Department of State Services (DSS), Mr Oluwatosin Ajayi, on his emergence as winner of the IPI Press Freedom Award.

This is contained in a statement to newsmen in Lokoja on Monday, by Commissioner for Information and Communications, Mr Kingsley Fanwo.

Ododo described the honour as a testament to Ajayi’s leadership and respect for democratic values.

The governor said that the award affirmed Ajayi’s exceptional professionalism and commitment to promoting constructive engagement with the media.

He recalled Ajayi’s outstanding tenure in Kogi State, noting that his achievements at the national level reflects his discipline, fairness, and strategic leadership.

“Kogi is thrilled with this recognition because we have always believed in Mr Oluwatosin Ajayi.

“He served us with distinction, diligence, and top-notch professionalism.

“His national achievements reflect the same discipline, fairness, and strategic leadership we saw in Kogi,” he said.

He also commended Ajayi for redefining the relationship between security agencies and the media, fostering cooperation and mutual understanding.

He wished the DSS DG, continued success while reaffirming the state’s support for initiatives strengthening democratic institutions and press freedom.

He urged other security agencies to continue to engage the media as partners in nation-building.
