
The Kwara State Code of Conduct Bureau, on Thursday in Ilorin sensitised staff of the Hospital Management Board on maintaining high standards in public service conduct and prevention of corruption.
Speaking on the sidelines of the programme, the State Director of the Code of Conduct Bureau, Dr Sherifat Yusuf, addressed the guiding principles for public officers as outlined in the 1999 Constitution.
She highlighted prohibitions against conflicts of interest, maintaining foreign accounts, and accepting bribes.
Yusuf stated that the importance of promoting honesty and transparency, underscored the necessity for every public officer to complete the asset and liabilities declaration form.
According to her, the bureau strives to build public trust through honesty, transparency, and accountability.
The State Director described the bureau as having the mandate to ensure ethical governance for public officers by enforcing the Code of Conduct, primarily through mandatory asset declarations, investigating breaches, and preventing corruption and illicit enrichment
Earlier in his opening remarks, the Executive Secretary of the Hospital Management Board, Dr Abdulraheem Malik, explained that the programme was to enlighten the staff about the significance of declaring assets and liabilities.
Malik, who was represented by the Acting Director of Personal Finance and Supply, Mr Suleiman Gada, stated that the programme was in alignment with the Federal Government’s commitment to preventing corruption and maintaining national integrity,
According to him, the enlightenment campaign will help public servants not to go against the constitution and the public service rules.
