A Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ikorodu, Lagos, on Wednesday, remanded two men for allegedly stabbing a man with broken bottle, inflicting serious injury and destroying his eye.
The defendants, Odunlami Olamide, 29, and Ibrahim Oluwaseun, 27, whose house addresses were not provided, are standing trial on a three-count charge bordering on conspiracy to wit felony, conduct likely and assault occasional harm.
The Chief Magistrate, B.A. Sonuga, however did not take the plea of the defendants.
He adjourned the case until June 19 and ordered that the defendants be remanded in correctional centre.
Earlier, the Prosecutor, ASP Aminu Isaac, told the court that the suspects committed the offence on April 6, at about 8:30pm at Eyita area of Ikorodu.
Isaac alleged that the defendants conspired and acted in a manner likely to cause a breach of the peace by entering Brentwood Hospital in groups and frightening the nurses on duty, causing them to flee.
The prosecutor said that the defendants allegedly stabbed the complainant, Mr Akinola Odewabi, in the left eye with a broken bottle, causing a permanent injury that resulted in the complete loss of the eye.
According to him, the offences contravene the provisions of Section 411 and 168(d) and 245 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2015.
