Minister of State for Defence, Bello Matawalle has expressed strong support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, predicting a decisive win for him in the 2027 presidential election.
According to a statement by Iheoma-Hart Queeneth, chief information officer in the ministry, yesterday in Abuja, Matawalle made this comment while speaking to journalists at his Abuja residence on Saturday,
Dr. Matawalle called on Nigerians and political stakeholders to provide the President with the necessary political space to pursue reforms aimed at economic stabilisation, institutional strengthening, and national cohesion.
Dr. Matawalle condemned ongoing political manoeuvres he described as self-serving and detrimental to Nigeria’s democratic stability. He warned that premature power struggles and factionalism divert attention from governance and undermine public confidence in democratic institutions.
“President Tinubu has taken bold steps to stabilise the economy and strengthen national institutions,” Dr. Matawalle said. “Those who are plotting to unseat him are motivated by personal interests, not the public good. If given the chance to complete his reform programme, I am confident the President will win convincingly in 2027.”
Highlighting recent progress in the North and across the country, the Minister attributed these improvements to the President’s policies and leadership.
He urged political actors to prioritise constructive engagement over destabilising tactics, while calling on citizens to support policies that foster sustainable growth, security, and national unity.
“Let us focus on solutions that deliver for Nigerians – jobs, security, and stronger institutions – rather than on rancour and short-term political gains,” he added.
