The FCT command of Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) has warned vandals to keep away from the newly installed road crash barriers in Abuja city.
The FCT Commandant, Olusola Odumosu, issued the warning in Abuja on Thursday in a statement by the command’s spokesperson, Monica Ojobi.
He said that the corps being the lead agency in the protection of critical infrastructure, will intensify strategies to ensure adequate protection of government property.
He assured that operatives on 24-hours patrol will ensure all manholes, streetlights, telecommunication infrastructure amongst others are free of vandalism.
“The crash barriers are not just for beautification of the city but for the protection of road users’ lives,” he said.
The commandant advised all heads of pantaker markets in the FCT to warn their members not to violate laid down rules guiding their operations or be ready to face sanctions.
“Adhere strictly to approved guidelines as monitoring and regulation of pantaker markets is still ongoing,” Odumosu said.
Odumosu called on residents to report anyone found suspiciously lurking around FCT infrastructure or seen vandalising national assets.
He further urged well meaning Nigerians to walk into any of the NSCDC security outposts for complaints, information or call: 09166229882, 08159066244.
