In London, UK, December 2025, Dr. Comfort Asokoro-Ogaji, Executive Director of Women in Mining Africa (WiM-Africa), has been awarded the Women in Mining Award 2025 at the Resourcing Tomorrow Outstanding Achievement Awards in London.
Her emergence has been described as a defining moment for African leadership and women empowerment in the global mining sector.
She emerged winner among six exceptional finalists including Amanda Lacaze (Lynas Rare Earths), Laura Tyler (Adriatic Metals), Ingrid Hibbard (Pelangio Exploration), Michelle Keegan (Atrico/Robopalooza) and Ria Sanz (Marlow Global).

Director, Operations and Secretariat Services at WiM-Africa, Dr Antonia Nebo, who confirmed the development to our correspondent in Abuja, on Friday, said Dr. Ogaji dedicated the award to mining host communities and women across Africa, reaffirming the need for equitable development, beneficiation, policy advocacy, and value-driven partnerships in critical minerals.
“This win is for African women in mining, for host communities sustaining global industries, and for every woman whose work builds this sector even when unseen,” she said.
Dr. Ogaji leads transformation in more than thirty-six African countries, driving the development of the WiM-Africa Institute for Leadership & Sustainable Mining and Beneficiation Laboratories aimed at strengthening women-led value addition and research capacity on the continent.
