2023: APC Shut Out At The Grassroots By Opposition Propaganda ,Says Adamu

Senator Abdullahi Adamu, National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), has lamented that all the good work of the present administration is not appreciated at the grassroots because of opposition propaganda and vulnerable uneducated membership.

Senator Adamu made his view known when he received in audience the leadership of APC Professional Forum led by its chairman, Isa Yuguda, at the party’s national secretariat, noting that all the ruling party gets is criticism regardless of the good work of the Muhammadu Buhari led administration.

He pointed out that the party especially at the grassroots level is driven by a preponderant uneducated mass of followership who, he said, are vulnerable to opposition manipulation.

The former Nasarawa state governor said that much as he is not averse to criticism, he urged those railing at the ruling party to be factual in their criticism ahead of the 2023 general election.

He, therefore, urged the APC Professional Forum to see what intervention it could make to sell the programmes and achievements of the APC at the grassroots level where he said the party is not enjoying positive publicity, even as he advocates for the emergence of the culture of enlightened followership especially at the grassroots.

Adamu also hinted that the party would soon organise a national conference before the opening of the campaign.

“One thing we want you to pay attention to is to see how you can be helpful over the activities of the party at the grassroots. It is very critical.

It is driven by those who are uneducated, thus the leadership at that level is very vulnerable.

“We need to imbibe the culture of an enlightened membership driven by knowledge. We don’t have to be all graduates or diploma holders but an enlightened mind is an open mind.

“This is important in the effort to get the people to appreciate what we are as a party, how we can be appreciated as a party.

We have the misfortune of the efforts of this government not getting to the grassroots in terms of positive publicity of what this government is doing.

All that those who care to talk want to say is the negative aspect of this government.

“We know that all over the world, the opposition is seen as the underdog and so there is apparent sympathy for them. I have no quarrel with this.

Go and sympathise with them but call a spade a spade. Don’t give a dog a bad name in order to hang it. This is what we are experiencing.”

He listed the milestones the administration has attained to include improved infrastructure but regretted that the achievements are not given positive mention.
