The Head of the Department of Geology at Ahmadu Bello University (ABU), Zaria, Professor Ibrahim Hamidu, has commended the Nigerian Society of Economic Geologists (NSEG) for promoting professional excellence and collaboration in advancing Nigeria’s solid minerals sector.
Hamidu gave the commendation in his goodwill message at the society’s 5th Annual International Conference and Exhibition in Kaduna on Monday, October 19, 2026.
He congratulated the society’s leadership and members on the conference, describing the gathering as an important occasion for advancing professional development and strengthening collaboration across sectors.
The conference has as its theme, “Unlocking the Earth’s Mineral Potential: Innovation and Discovery for Future Resources.”
Hamidu described the theme as timely and inspiring, noting that it highlighted the critical role of innovation in addressing contemporary challenges and unlocking opportunities in mineral exploration and development.
“I commend the Society for its unwavering commitment to advancing professional excellence, fostering collaboration, and driving positive development within all sectors,” he said.
The university don also invited alumni of ABU’s Department of Geology attending the conference to stand for recognition, acknowledging their participation in the professional gathering.
He expressed hope that the conference would produce meaningful outcomes, wishing participants successful and rewarding deliberations.
