A former Zamfara State governorship candidate and chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, has survived an assassination attempt in Abuja.
Shinkafi revealed that the incident happened shortly after Juma’at prayers on August 15, when masked gunmen dressed in black blocked his vehicle and attacked before escaping in an unmarked black Prado Jeep.
In a statement, he described the incident as an “unprovoked attempt” on his life, linking it to his outspoken criticism of insecurity in Zamfara and other national concerns.
“I will not be deterred by intimidation or harassment in the quest for national security, peace, unity, and social development,” he declared.
The APC stalwart also disclosed that he had previously received multiple threat calls at his Abuja residence, which he believes were connected to the attack. He urged the Inspector General of Police and the DSS to thoroughly investigate and bring the culprits and their sponsors to justice.
