Justice Monica Dongban-Mensem, the President of the Court of Appeal, has constituted the Election Petition Tribunal for the National and State Houses of Assembly by-elections held on Saturday in Delta.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Tribunal Secretary, Mr Akawu Bambur, made available to the NAN on Monday in Asaba.
According to the statement, Justice Dongban-Mensem established the tribunal by virtue of the power vested on her by the 1999 Constitution, as amended.
“Justice M.B. Dongban-Mensem acted under the provisions of Section 285(2) and (3), paragraphs 1 and 2 of the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, 1999(as amended) and Section 134(2)and (3) of the Electoral Act of 2016.
“The petition tribunal is for the National and State Houses of Assembly by-election held on Saturday, Sept. 19.
“The Delta State Secretariat of the election petition tribunal is located at the Multi-Door Court House, High Court of Justice Complex, Asaba,” the statement added.
