AXIAN Telecom has been recognised as a Founding Partner of the ATLAS Umoja AI initiative, highlighting its contribution to advancing artificial intelligence capabilities for the Malagasy language as part of broader efforts to develop African language AI.
The recognition acknowledges the company’s work in supporting the Malagasy language pathway through its Data & AI team, which combines local market expertise with advanced technology capabilities to develop AI solutions tailored to African contexts.
According to AXIAN Telecom, the achievement demonstrates its ability to transform locally developed AI pilots into scalable solutions that can be deployed across its markets, strengthening the company’s regional AI capabilities while addressing local needs.
The company is collaborating with the GSMA, its Madagascar operations and other ecosystem partners to develop AI systems that understand and process African languages natively. The initiative aims to build AI models that are grounded in African contexts and deliver practical value to customers, businesses and communities across the continent.
