BREAKING: Dr. Chris Isokpunwu takes over as Permanent Secretary, Steel Development Ministry

Dr Chris Osa Isokpunwu has taken over as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Steel Development.

The distinguished medical practitioner and public health specialist took over from Dr. Mary Ogbe, who had been the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development and the Ministry of Steel Development.

Following the creation of the new Ministry of Steel Development by the Tinubu administration, Dr. Ogbe administered both ministries until the deployment of Dr. Isokpunwu.

Dr. Ogbe retains her portfolio as the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Solid Minerals Development.

Isokpunwu described Dr. Ogbe as a “woman of steel” who effectively managed the affairs of the two ministries, noting that the ministries will continue to work together because steel development and solid minerals development are goals that will be achieved simultaneously.

“We will set out to work immediately, and carry on with the assignment which President Bola Tinubu has given to us,” he said, adding that he will lead the staff of the Ministry of Steel Development to support the Minister in realizing set goals.

Dr. Isokpunwu has put in more than 25 years of dedicated service to the Nigerian healthcare system.

Untill his deployment to the Ministry of Steel Development, he was the Director of the Department of Health Planning Research and Statistics in the Federal Ministry of Health, where he played a key role in shaping the future of healthcare in Nigeria.
