CORBON Chairman Engages House of Representatives Committee on Alternative Education

The CORBON Chairman, Bldr. Samson Ameh Opaluwah, recently honoured the invitation of the House of Representatives Committee on Alternative Education to discuss the National Skills Qualification Framework (NSQF).

During the meeting, the CORBON Chairman emphasized the relevance of Skills in addressing the challenges of Security, Unemployment and Youth Restiveness. The Chairman highlighted the need for collaborative efforts between the various arms of government, the private sector, and civil society to support a legislation on the National Skills Qualifications Framework alongside its full implementation.

The Committee members expressed their appreciation for the CORBON Chairman’s insights and reiterated their commitment to supporting initiatives that will promote skills development as a panacea to the alarming incidences of out of school children and its attendant security challenges.

This meeting marks an important step towards fostering collaboration and driving change in the Nigeria’s Skills ecosystem. Other stakeholders represented at the meeting were COREN, NBTE, Committee of Sector Skills Councils of Nigeria, ASVAN etc. In the words of CORBON Chairman, “We look forward to offering the Councils support and technical know how to the committee in ensuring the completion of its assignment.”
