The Council for the Regulation of Engineering in Nigeria (COREN) has inaugurated a technical committee to oversee the realisation of its Permanent Headquarters in Jahi area of the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to a statement by the head of Corporate Advancement and Public Relations at COREN, Ojonugwa Haruna, the event took place during a hybrid ceremony held on Thursday, 4th September 2025
At the inauguration, the president of COREN, Engr. Prof. Sadiq Abubakar, emphasised that the project represents a major milestone in the Council’s history.
He noted that the proposed world-class headquarters would symbolise COREN’s institutional growth and resilience and strengthen its capacity for enduring service to Engineering practice in Nigeria.
The President highlighted the project’s strategic importance in enhancing the Council’s operational efficiency, visibility, and regulatory effectiveness.
He further reassured stakeholders of COREN’s unwavering commitment to transparency, accountability, and excellence in project execution.
The Committee, chaired by Engr. Olaolu Ogunduyile, FNSE, comprises eminent engineering professionals and experts, including Engr. Ibikunle S. Ogunbayo, FNSE, FAEng; Engr. Prof. O.A.U. Uche, FNSE; Engr. Tasui S. G. Wudil, FNSE, mni; Engr. Felix Atume, FNSE, FAEng, mni; Engr. Ibrahim A. Maimaje, FNSE; Engr. Denis Dania, FNSE; Engr. Kam-Salem A. Bukar, FNSE; and Engr. (Barr) Ezeilo Chigboka Joseph.
The committee’s Terms of Reference (ToR) cover project scoping and definition, technical and financial feasibility studies, developing Public-Private Partnership (PPP) models, ensuring regulatory compliance, engaging stakeholders and potential investors, and submitting periodic progress reports to the COREN Council.
Prof. Abubakar urged the Committee to deliver on its mandate with diligence, innovation, and integrity, noting that the successful completion of the headquarters would stand as a lasting legacy to the Engineering Profession in Nigeria.
