A Federal High Court in Kaduna on Wednesday, ordered the remand of a 26-year-old woman in custody, over alleged possession of 26kg of Cannabis Sativa alias hemp.
The defendant, Felicia Gregory whose address was not stated, is standing trial on a one- count charge of possession of illicit drugs.
She was charged by the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA).
She pleaded guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Mr T.J. Atserhegh told the court that the defendant was caught by operatives of NDLEA in possession of the narcotic substance.
He also alleged that the defendant was found in possession of 4g of metaphetamine.
The offences contravene the provisions of sections 11(c) of the NDLEA Act Cap N30 Law of the Federation, 2004.
Following her guilty plea, the prosecutor asked the court for a short adjournment to enable him review the facts of the case.
He further urged the court to remand the defendant in custody of the Nigerian Correctional Service.
The trial Judge, Justice Hawau’u Buhari, consequently, ordered a remand of the defendant at the Correctional Centre.
The court adjourned the case until Aug 31, for review of facts.
