Court remands man for allegedly peddling marijuana, psychotropic substance

A middle-aged drug-peddling suspect, Ifeoluwa Abiodun, on Tuesday, pleaded guilty to an alleged offence of peddling 4.2kg of marijuana and 9.2gms of methamphetamine, a psychotropic substance.

The prosecutor, Mrs A.A. Balogun, had told the court that the defendant committed the crime on July 8, at Owogbowo area, Igbo Ora Town, Ibarapa Central, Oyo State.

Balogun further said that operatives from the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Oyo State Command, acted on a tip-off by informants that Abiodun was into the business of illicit drug peddling.

According to her, the operatives apprehended the defendant in possession of a sack containing 4.2 kg of Cannabis Sativa, otherwise called marijuana, and 9.2gms of methamphetamine.

She said that the offenses contravened the provision of section 11(C) of the NDLEA Act Cap n30 Laws of the Federation 2004.

Consequently, Justice Nkeonye Maha ordered that he be remanded in Agodi Correctional Centre.

Maha, thereafter, adjourned the case to October 29 for presentation of facts and judgment.
