
An Ile-Ife Magistrates’ Court on Monday, remanded a 34-year-old man, Saheed Ishola for allegedly stealing N120,000.
The defendant, whose house address was not provided, is facing a four-count charge of conspiracy, stealing, assault and malicious damage.
The Prosecutor, Insp Adesina Elijah, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on May 12, 2025 at about 05:00 pm at New World Hotel, Gbelenkan, Ile-Ife.
He said that the defendant with others now at large conspired to commit felony to wit: stealing.
The prosecutor said the defendant allegedly stole the sum of N120,000, belonging to one Ebie Lucky, the complainant.
Elijah alleged that the defendant assaulted two individuals, Ilesanmi Kayode and Adegoke Ayomide, using a cutlass and other dangerous weapons, inflicting injuries on their cheeks and bodies.
He further stated that the defendant maliciously used a cutlass and an axe to destroy property belonging to Lucky.
“The damaged items include 50 cartons of Heineken beer valued at N200,000 and two dozen plastic chairs worth N360,000—bringing the total loss to N560,000.”
According to him, the offence contravene sections 355, 390(9), 451 and 516 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.
The defendant, who was not legally represented, however, pleaded not guilty to charges.
Magistrate Abosede Sarumi, who did not grant the defendant bail, adjourned the case until June 16, for hearing.
