ECOWAS meets Senegalese authorities over postponed elections

The economic Community for West African States (ECOWAS) has sent a high powered delegation to Senegal to discuss the political situation there following a delay in its presidential election.

The sub-regional economic and political bloc in a statement Monday stated that the mission to be led by the speaker of the ECOWAS parliament, Sidie Mohamed Tunis, and members of the assembly will meet Senegalese authorities, politicians and representatives of civil society, it added.

The mission runs from Feb. 12-14, the statement said.
