Equity market crosses 80 million mark

Domestic equity market on Monday opened week in a positive trend, crossing 80 million mark as gain recorded by Conoil, GTCO Plc, AccessCorp, Flour Mills Nigeria Plc, Zenith Bank, Okomu Oil and others lifted market activities during the day.

Specifically, the NGX All Share Index increased by 659.87 basis points to 80324.53 points from 79664.66 points  traded the previous day.

Market capitalisation of listed equities also appreciated by N364 billion or 0.83 per cent to N43.957 trillion from N43.593 trillion it closed on Friday. The NGX All Share Index also increased by 659.87 basis points to 80324.53 points from 79664.66 points traded the previous day.

 

An analysis of the Investment showed that

 

five companies recorded 10 per cent gain at the close of trading on Monday. Omatek, Jaiz Bank, Lasaco Insurance gained 10 per cent each to close at N0.99 , N2.53 and N2.42 per share respectively. Cornerstone Insurance and Julius Berger added 10 per cent each to close respectively at N1.87 and N46.75 per share.

 

On contrary, Daar Communication topped losers chart, declining by 9.30 per cent to close at N1.17 per unit, Eterna Plc trailed with a loss of 8.79 per cent to close at N15.05 per unit, CWG down by 7.05 per cent to close at N8.30 per unit, PZ Cusson dipped by 6.90 per cent to close at N27.00 while Fidelity Bank down by 5.99 per cent to close at N13.35 per share.

 

Volume of Transactions increased by 297.323 million, representing 75.71 per cent as investors traded 1.190 billion shares valued at N15.256 billion in 16081 deals against 892.677 million shares cost N14.328 billion exchanged hands the previous day in 13019 deals.

 

Transactions in the shares of Transnational Corporation of Nigeria led market activities with 298.302 million shares valued at N4.077 billion, FCMB group followed with account of 106.053 million worth N1.083 billion, Fidelity Bank traded 87.654 million shares valued at N1.189 billion, Sterling Bank traded 62.546 million shares cost N395.087 million while Unity Bank exchanged 32.565 million shares worth N82.328 million.
