Former Imo State Governor Rochas Okorocha has reportedly been arrested by operatives of the Nigeria Police Force at a hotel in Abuja over a dispute surrounding the All Progressives Congress (APC) senatorial primary election in Imo West.
Newspotng gathered that the arrest occurred at REIZ Continental Hotel on Monday, October 12, 2026, following a bench warrant reportedly obtained by the police.
The report linked the development to allegations of criminal conspiracy, forgery and impersonation, with investigators said to have sought Okorocha’s appearance for questioning after he allegedly failed to honour police invitations.
The dispute reportedly centres on a document circulating in Okorocha’s name that claimed that he had won the APC senatorial primary for Imo West.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) reportedly questioned the document and recognises Imo State Governor Hope Uzodimma as the legitimate winner of the primary.
Okorocha had previously dismissed claims that a court had issued an arrest warrant against him, challenging those making the allegations to provide documentary evidence.
As of the report published by Daily Post, there was no direct statement from the police or Okorocha confirming the reported arrest or providing further details about the case.
The allegations have not been established in court, and the circumstances surrounding the reported arrest remain subject to official confirmation.
