
Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde will on Friday, September 18, 2026, officially coronate the National President of the Miners Association of Nigeria (MAN), Prince Ayandele Ayanleke, as the Onibise of Komu. Komu is an ancient town located in the Itesiwaju Local Government Area of Oyo State.
The historic occassion is expected to bring together top government functionaries, mining business community, community leaders, traditional institutions, stakeholders from the extractive industry and residents of Komu.
The traditional ceremony will take place at the Ibise Market Square, Komu, beginning at 10:00 a.m.
A statement from the Oyo State Government said Governor Makinde will perform the coronation and formally install Prince Dele Ayanleke in his new traditional role, marking a significant moment for the people of Komu, Oyo State and the country’s mining community.
Ayanleke, a successful businessman who made his mark in the Nigerian mining industry, is also the National President of the Miners Association of Nigeria.
Prince Ayanleke is a Fellow of the Nigerian Society of Mining Engineers (NSME) and a member of the Nigerian Mining and Geosciences Society (NMGS).
He is expected to assume the traditional responsibilities associated with the Onibise stool alongside his role in the mining sector.
The ceremony will also feature the presentation of the staff of office to Ayanleke who will then be His Royal Highness, Oba Ayanleke Olaitan Oyebisi Ayanleke-Elegbede (Gbolahan II).
The coronation and presentation of the staff of office will take place at 10 a.m. on Friday at Ibise Market Square, Komu, Oyo State.
