
Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang has congratulated renowned mining engineer, scholar and administrator, Prof Stephen Jackdell Mallo, on his 70th birthday, describing him as one of the state’s finest intellectuals and a distinguished ambassador of Nigeria’s mining and engineering professions.
In a congratulatory message issued by his Director of Press and Public Affairs, Dr Gyang Bere, the governor said Prof Mallo’s life had been marked by excellence, integrity and selfless service to humanity.
Mutfwang commended the celebrant’s outstanding contributions to engineering education, research, institutional development and the nation’s mining sector, saying his achievements had brought honour to Plateau State and Nigeria.
“Prof Mallo is one of Plateau State’s finest intellectuals whose life has been defined by excellence, integrity and selfless service to humanity,” the governor said.
He praised Prof Mallo’s distinguished career in academia and public service, highlighting his roles as former Rector of Plateau State Polytechnic, Foundation Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at the University of Jos, and Acting Vice-Chancellor of Plateau State University, Bokkos.
The governor noted that the professor’s commitment to training future generations of engineers and advancing scientific knowledge had left an enduring legacy in Nigeria’s educational system.
Mutfwang also acknowledged Prof Mallo’s contributions to the development of the solid minerals sector through research, publications, professional engagements and policy advisory roles.
He described the professor as “a patriotic Nigerian whose expertise has continued to shape the growth of the mining industry.”
The governor prayed for God’s continued grace, sound health, wisdom and strength for the elder statesman, expressing hope that he would continue to provide mentorship and wise counsel to younger generations.
Prof Mallo is widely recognised for his contributions to mining engineering, higher education and public service, earning several national and professional honours during his distinguished career.
