Gov Ododo inspects key legacy projects, assures on timely completion

Kogi State Governor, Ahmed Usman Ododo has assured of the timely completion of key legacy projects in the state in line with his agenda for continuity and consolidation.

 

The Governor made the declaration following the inspection of projects at the Kogi State University, KSU Kabba, Confluence University of Science and Technology, CUSTECH, Osara and the 7 Kilometer Obangede-Okaito-Usungwe road.

According to a statement by Special Adviser on Media to the Governor Ismaila Isah, the Governor expressed his determination to ensure timely completion of all on-going projects in the state saying that he is committed to the completion of the projects is in line with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Tinubu in order to prevent revenue leakages while ensuring value for money spent by the government in the interest of the people.

 

“These projects are important for the development of our state and the wellbeing of our people.

 

Education is the bedrock of human capital development anywhere in the world and this is why we have placed high premium on education by establishing and funding two universities within a space of four years.

 

The road from Obangede to Usungwe was in a state of serious disrepair before my predecessor embarked on the total reconstruction and we made it clear that the project will be completed and delivered to the people.

 

What we are doing today is to assess the progress and ensure that there is value for money and that the work done is commensurate with the funds provided by the government.

 

We are here to reassure the people that we shall provide all necessary financial need and the political will to complete these projects”, the Governor stated.

 

Governor Ododo commended the pace of work at the various project sites visited and urged the contractors to ensure timely completion of the projects to enable the people for whom the projects are meant to realize the gains intended by the state government.

 

The Governor restated the need for timely completion of the projects, adding that most of the projects which are already at various stages of completion have received the financial commitments needed for their completion in no distant time.

 

The Governor urged people in the host communities to consider the projects as their own and therefore take active interest in the progress of the projects by providing needed support for the state government to complete the projects within a reasonable time frame.

 

Projects inspected include Senate buildings, lecture theatres and faculty buildings; libraries, campus roads and other infrastructural projects within the Kogi State University, Kabba and Confluence University of Science and Technology, Osara as well as all the bridges connecting different sections of the Obangede-Okaito-Usungwe road.
