Governor Ododo to Grace 7th OJN Annual Symposium, Endorses Youth Development Initiative

The Executive Governor of Kogi State, Ahmed Usman Ododo, will grace the 7th OJN Annual Symposium and Book Launch as the Special Guest of Honour, in a strong demonstration of his administration’s unwavering commitment to youth development, leadership, and inclusive governance.

The symposium, convened by Oladele John Nihi, Special Adviser to the Governor on Youth and Student Matters and Founder of the OJN Foundation, is scheduled to hold on Wednesday, July 15, 2026, at the Kay Galaxy Event Centre, Lokoja, with the theme: “Youth as Stakeholders in Governance and Democratic Development.”

Governor Ododo’s participation is expected to further reinforce his administration’s youth-centered policies and sustained investment in creating opportunities for young people across Kogi State.

The annual symposium has grown into one of the state’s leading youth engagement platforms, bringing together government officials, policymakers, development partners, private sector leaders, civil society organizations, students, and young professionals to deliberate on issues affecting youth participation in governance and national development.

A major highlight of this year’s event will be the unveiling of the book, “Voice of a Generation: The Still Rising Story of Oladele John Nihi.” Proceeds from the launch will support the activities of the OJN Foundation, particularly youth empowerment initiatives, educational interventions, leadership development programmes, and assistance for vulnerable members of society.

The event will also feature keynote presentations, panel discussions, goodwill messages from distinguished personalities, and recognition of individuals who have made significant contributions to youth development.

Speaking ahead of the symposium, Convener Oladele John Nihi expressed profound appreciation to Governor Ododo for his endorsement and willingness to personally attend the event.

According to him, the Governor’s presence is a clear reflection of his enduring belief in the capacity of young people and his administration’s determination to provide platforms that inspire leadership, innovation, and responsible citizenship.

He called on youths, students, stakeholders, development partners, and members of the public to attend the symposium and be part of conversations that will shape the future of youth participation in governance while supporting the vision of the OJN Foundation.

The 7th OJN Annual Symposium is expected to attract over 1,500 participants from across Kogi State and beyond, making it one of the largest youth-focused gatherings in the state. The event promises to deliver impactful conversations, strategic networking opportunities, and renewed commitment towards building a generation of responsible, innovative, and transformational leaders.
