A newly formed political group, the Anebira Rescue Movement Political Family (ARM), has endorsed Chief Momoh Yusuf Obaro’s bid for the Kogi Central Senatorial seat in the 2027 general election, pledging to mobilise grassroots support for his emergence as the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate.
The group’s Convener and Leader, Hon. Ahovi Adams, announced the endorsement during the official unveiling of the movement in Lokoja, Kogi State, saying the decision followed consultations with traditional rulers, community leaders, political stakeholders, women and youth groups, as well as other residents across Kogi Central.
According to Adams, the movement was established to promote what he described as a new political direction anchored on competence, unity, fairness, accountability and purposeful leadership.
He said ARM would champion issue-based politics focused on economic empowerment, quality representation, education, infrastructure, youth development and security, rather than what he described as politics of intimidation and personal attacks.
Adams described Obaro as a leader with the experience, integrity and vision to provide effective representation for Kogi Central.
He added that if Obaro does not secure the APC ticket, the movement would support Senator Natasha Akpoti-Uduaghan, whom he said had also demonstrated commitment to the development of the district.
The group said it was committed to peaceful democratic participation and called on security agencies to remain professional and impartial, urging that no citizen should be harassed or intimidated on account of political affiliation or for exercising constitutional rights.
ARM also criticised what it described as clan-based politics in Kogi Central, arguing that political appointments and governance should reflect fairness, inclusiveness and competence rather than ethnic or clan considerations.
The movement further alleged that benefits and government patronage had been concentrated within a particular clan while other communities had been neglected. It warned that such an approach could undermine unity in the district if allowed to continue.
The group also raised concerns over security during the administration of former Governor Yahaya Bello, alleging that incidents of kidnapping and political violence were not adequately addressed.
The group urged political leaders across Kogi Central to embrace justice, equity and equal treatment of all clans and communities, insisting that the district’s future depended on unity and inclusive leadership.
“We believe the future of Kogi Central lies in unity, justice, fairness and visionary leadership. The politics of fear must give way to the politics of ideas. The politics of exclusion must surrender to the politics of inclusion,” Adams said.
