
A Women’s advocacy group in Zamfara State, ‘Women for Women (He for She) has declared its support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal for a second term and All Progressives Congress (APC) candidates in the 2027 general elections.
The group made the declaration in Gusau weekend at the special reception in honour of Hajiya Fatima Umar Shinkafi, the executive secretary of the Solid Minerals Development Fund.
The event attended by large crowds of various APC women groups across the state was chaired by the First Lady of Zamfara State, Hajiya Hurriyya Dauda Lawal.
During the event, Shinkafi distributed wrappers and cash to over 10,000 women drawn from the 14 LGAs of the state.
The state coordinator of the group, Dr Luba Ammani described the reception as timely and necessary considering the role Hajiya Shinkafi plays in impacting the lives of women and children and other vulnerable groups in the state and across the country.
According to her, Shinkafi deserves every honour considering her commitment to the welfare of the less privileged people, particularly women in the state.
“We decided to organise a reception for Hajiya Shinkafi to show our appreciation for her humanitarian gestures to women and other vulnerable groups across Zamfara State”, Ammani said.
Ammani said the group declared support for President Tinubu, Governor Dauda Lawal and all APC candidates.
She commended President Tinubu for appointing Shinkafi as executive secretary of SMDF and described her appointment as beneficial to the people of the state and Nigeria as a whole.
Chairperson of the APC Women Elders’ Committee, Hajiya Aishatu Maradun, disclosed that women in the state will vote for the reelection of President Tinubu and Governor Dauda Lawal in the 2027 general election.
Maradun noted that Hajiya Shinkafi is capable for mobilising women in the state to vote massively for Tinubu, Lawal and the ruling APC. “As a woman group, we should be supporting capable women among us holding various governorship positions to deliver.
Presenting the donation of cash and clothes to 10,000 beneficiaries, Hajiya Fatima Shinkafi, said it was aimed at complementing government’s efforts in empowering women.
“This is part of our initiatives to empower women and provide humanitarian gesture to poor and less privileged families.
Zamfara State First Lady, Hajiya Huriyya Dauda Lawal, appreciated her gesture to the people of the state.
“This is timely and welcome development, and it will complement government’s efforts towards providing the support to less privileged and vulnerable people”, the First Lady added.
