How Interior Minister earned reputation of credibility in leadership, by Amb. Erebuoye

Ambassador James Erebuoye

Ambassador James Erebuoye, President of the Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora and Rebuild Nigeria Movement (CNNDRNM), has declared the current Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, “the best and finest Minister Nigeria has ever produced since 1999.”

Addressing newsmen in Abuja on Friday, September 27, 2024, Erebuoye went on to recount key achievements that he believed had earned the Minister this title.

Erebuoye, a seasoned diplomat known for his outspoken nature, delivered a heartfelt tribute to the minister’s contributions. “In all my years as President of the Concerned Nigerian Network in Diaspora and Rebuild Nigeria Movement (CNNDRNM), I have never seen such dedication, integrity, and innovation from a public official. The Minister of Interior has not only transformed the ministry but has also redefined leadership under the President Bola Ahmed Tinubu-led administration.”

He further stressed that one of the most striking accomplishments was the unprecedented reform of the country’s immigration policies. Under the Minister’s watch, the once-criticized system had been overhauled, with faster processing times for visas, more efficient border control measures, and greater transparency in the granting of citizenship. The reforms were lauded both at home and abroad, bolstering the nation’s reputation as a model of security and openness in the region.

“The Minister has balanced security with humanity in a way that no one else has since 1999,” Erebuoye continued. “Easy access to passports for Nigerians; our borders are safe, but we have also opened our arms to those who need refuge. This is the mark of true leadership.” He said

In addition to immigration reforms, Ambassador Erebuoye praised the Minister’s handling of internal security. Despite facing a myriad of challenges, including insurgency, rising crime, and communal unrest, the minister had been instrumental in coordinating national security efforts.

He also highlighted the minister’s commitment to modernizing the infrastructure of the Interior Ministry. Under the minister’s leadership, digital technologies had been introduced, streamlining the registration of births, deaths, and marriages, and making these essential services more accessible to citizens across the country.
