The embattled leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB), Mazi Nnamdi Kanu has debunked news making rounds on social media that his close allies and family members were instrumental to his rearrest in Kenya and repatriation to Nigeria.
The Truth reported that there are rumours trending on news media that Kanu’s brother Kanunta Kanu, Secretary, Carolyn Okoroafor, and one Madam Nnennaya Anya, were behind his rearrest in Kenya.
Reacting to the new development in a statement issued by its lead counsel, Ifeanyi Ejiofor, the pro-Biafran agitator described the news as mischievous; hence those behind it must stop and issue a retraction. He said, “Our Client – Onyendu Mazi Nnamdi Kanu noted with displeasure and rude shock, the obviously false narrative being peddled by those whose primary intention is to cause mischief and on that note, he specifically directed that we should inform those who care to listen that neither the trio of Mazi Kanunta Kanu, Carolyn Okoroafor, Madam Nnennaya Anya, nor any other person in the DOS was instrumental to his abduction in Kenya and subsequent extraordinary rendition to Nigeria. “Onyendu warned those mischievously purveying these fake news to desist forthwith, and accordingly issue a retraction to the effect of this damaging blackmail to the trio of Kanunta Kanu, Nnennaya Anya and Carolyn Okoroafor, and this must be done without further ado. He was very emphatic on discipline and more importantly C and C.. “Onyendu thanked you all, millions of his supporters and followers for your peaceful conduct so far, and implored you all to keep it up and never derail. He also enjoined you, his followers to shun distraction of any kind.”
Kanu, who has been agitating for the actualization of Biafra was rearrested in Kenya and repatriated to Nigeria to continue his trial.Presently, Kanu is in the custody of the Department of State Services (DSS) awaiting his fate in the next trial scheduled for this month.
