The group also described as worthwhile the decision to situate the new university in Gwaram Local Government Area of the State.

Justifying the approval to situate the university in Gwaram, the President, who spoke to newsmen in Abuja at the weekend explained that the people of Gwaram have been most disadvantaged in terms of educational institutions in the State, adding that although Gwaram is one of the two largest and most populous Local Government Areas in Jigawa State, it lacks tertiary educational institutions to match its populous status.

“So we are happy that the Federal Government has decided to give Gwaram LGA a Federal University of Medical Health Sciences.”

“It gives us a sense of inclusion in the democratic dividends from the Federal Level,” he added.

While expressing confidence in the doggedness of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to extend tertiary educational institutions to Gwaram through the approval of the establishment of Federal University of Medical Health Sciences, Gwaram, Jigawa State, Hamza expressed the willingness of the association to work with the new team at the Federal Ministry of Education to realize the goal.

“In all modesty, we thank the Federal Government, we enjoyed the support of the former Minister of Education, Mal. Adamu Adamu, and to the glory of Almighty Allah, the government approved the establishment of the university.”

“We appreciate the current Minister of education, Prof Tahir Maman, believing that he will make the establishment of the university a reality.”

“The next step is implementation of the approval and we want to also work with the new minister and his team so that we will contribute our quota to the educational development of Jigawa State and the Federal Republic of Nigeria,” he added.

“We commend the current Minister of Education, Prof. Tahir Maman and the Minister of State, Dr. Yusuf Sununu on the steps they have taken since coming on board, and we will be delighted to work with them to complete the goals.”

The group also solicited the support of the Governor of Jigawa State, Mallam Umar Namadi and his Deputy, Alh. Aminu Usman Gumel while commending their commitment to the overall development of the state.

Comrade Hamza stated: “Frankly speaking, they came on board in 2023, but the steps they have taken so far is enough to convince the people of Jigawa State that they are ready and capable for the task of leading Jigawa State to the next level.”

Hamza, who pointed out that Governor Namadi was recently in Gwaram to commission a private sector institution, College of Health Technology, Gwaram, stated that the establishment of the college is an evidence of the commitment of the State Government to creating enabling environment for the private sector in Jigawa State.
