The chairman of Y’ankwashi local government of Jigawa state, Hon.
Mubarak Ahmad Ahcilafiya, has led the wedding fatiha of 10 divorcees,
widows who came from across the 10 political wards of the area.
The wedding was sponsored by his councilors as part of his special interventions for
the less privileged.
The wedding ceremony which was performed by the Chief Imam of the local government area under the guidance of the Hisbah Commander, Rabi’u Ado of the local government, who stood in as the representative of all the brides.
The sum of N30, 000.00 was paid as dowry on each of the brides, amounting to N300,000.
Our correspondent who witnessed the occasion, reports that the council also procured furniture and utensils for the grooms in order to make them happy.
Hon. Mubarak Ahmad said this was the first batch while the second batch would be conducted subsequently in the local government and advised the brides and grooms to stay in peace with one another so that God would bless them with children.
In her address, the Jigawa state APC women leader, Hajiya Zuwaira
Shuiabu Gwaram, announced the gifting of wrappers to each of the grooms and expressed happiness with the chairman, saying it was part APC’s gestures to the poor and vulnerable in the state.
