The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Judiciary will convene a Special Valedictory Court Session in honor of late Hon Justice Moses Bello at the FCT High Court tomorrow, Tuesday 21, September 2021.
Justice Bello was the pioneer president and longest-serving president of the Customary Court of Appeal, CCA. Aged 67, he died in Abuja on Tuesday September 2, 2021.
Justice Bello served as President of the Customary Court of Appeal (CCA) from July 1992 to January 2018, a period that became synonymous with judicial expansion and infrastructural development of the Court.
A pious catholic and Papal Knight of St Gregory the Great (KSG), he was a member of the Judicial Service Committee (JSC) from 1992 to 2018, and completed a term as member of the National Judicial Council (NJC).
A recipient of the National Honor of the Order of the Federal Republic, Justice Bello’s years as President of the CCA is popularly regarded as a golden era of justice delivery at the Court as it became synonymous with expansion of the jurisdiction of the CCA and speedy infrastructural development.
The valedictory court session is the first in a lineup of activities by the judiciary, family, friends and the religious to honor Justice Moses Bello who further earned eminence for his commitment to justice, unity, peace and wellbeing of the common people.
A statement from the family detailing the schedule of his burial activities said there will be a session of tributes and testimonies at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, Wuse, Zone 2, on Thursday, to be followed by the celebration of Holy Mass for the late jurist at the same venue on the same day. It will be followed by Christian wake keep at his Abuja residence as well as a social wake keep by his family and friends on the same day Thursday.
On Friday September 24, 2021, the remains of Hon Justice Moses Bello would be conveyed from the National Hospital, Abuja, to his hometown, Okene, Kogi State, while a requiem mass will be held at his country home, with a Christian wake keep and Service of Songs.
On Saturday September 25, there would also be Funeral Mass for late Justice Bello at Christ the King Catholic Church, Okene, to be followed by the final internment at his country home residence, Inoziomi, Adavi LGA.
Next day, Sunday, there will be thanksgiving Mass at Christ the King Catholic Church, Okene, Kogi State.
