‘King of Thieves’ arrives Netflix June 26

Femi Adebayo’s ‘King of Thieves’, a hit Yoruba-language movie distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, arrives on Netflix June 26.

The blockbuster opens April 8, 2022, runs 14 weeks and grosses N320.8 million at the West African box office.

It moves to Prime Video in August 2022 and now in 2026, Netflix is the third platform on which the title will screen.

Truthng reports that the epic fantasy and action-drama achieves a milestone and emerges as the highest-grossing indigenous language Nollywood film at the time.

It has continued to attract large cinema audiences across the region, maintaining its position and underscoring strong commercial success and widespread audience.

The film that proves the big-budget Yoruba epic is commercially viable, is now beginning a third act in its distribution journey.

The Nigerian epic movie, which is produced by a collaboration between Euphoria 360 Media and Anthill Studios and distributed by FilmOne Entertainment, has enjoyed sustained patronage from moviegoers since its release.

Producer and lead actor, Adebayo, states that the idea for ‘King of Thieves’ has been in development for several years.

He says it is driven by his desire to create a large-scale Yoruba-language film that will showcase indigenous culture, mythology, and storytelling using high production values.

NAN reports that the hit Yoruba-language film is still showing in cinemas nationwide, is available to stream on Prime Video and continues to record strong turnout from movie enthusiasts.

With its impressive box office performance and continued screenings, industry observers expect the film to sustain its momentum in the coming weeks.
