Kogi Commissioner tasks agency on optimum performance

The Management of Kogi State Road Maintenance Agency (KOGROMA) has been impelled to hit the ground running in their responsibility of maintaining the roads and other constructed infrastructure across the state optimally.

Kogi State Commissioner for works, Engr. Abdulmumuni Sadiq gave the charge at the Ministry’s conference Hall, Lokoja on 5th October, 2017.

The Commissioner congratulated the management board on their appointments and described it as a call to serve. “This is a call to serve, and to serve productively. From the profile of the agency’s reputed components especially the Chairman with whom he has worked for numerous years, it is believed that your unquestionable proficiency led to your well deserved appointments. On this note, it can only get better to complement the gesture and trust reposed in you and not to disappoint His Excellency.”

He further said: “This is an agency which the Governor of Kogi State, Alh. Yahaya Bello holds so dear to his heart, owing to his compassion and enthusiasm for healthy and easy life for Kogi people as well as the commuters.”

Being abreast of the enormous task the agency is saddled with, the Commissioner enjoined the management to visit the state roads to be able to ascertain the state of defects, assuring that he will be available to work with the agency at all times.

The Commissioner went further to request the Secretary of the agency, Engr. Oludele Olugbami to brief the participants on the journey so far. Engr. Olugbami was the former acting Managing Director of the agency.

Chairman of the agency, Engr, Abdulawal Zubair thanked the Commissioner for his relentless efforts toward rekindling the agency and promised never to disappoint him if given the enabling environment to work effectively. He implored the Commissioner to assist where necessary towards an efficient management of the agency.

He said: “I wish to declare an emergency, the current state of KOGROMA.” He said it is pertinent to note that the deplorable state of our roads at the moment is nothing but death traps and thus the need for speedy actions.

He said, even though the agency is rich in terms of healthy equipment, every possible pressure should be brought to bear on the relevant authorities to avail the agency the required resources to hit the ground running. Traversing the length and breadth of our dear country on peer review mission even before inauguration reveals his readiness to swing into action as soon as possible.

Managing Director, KOGROMA, Engr, Adejo Musa reiterated the Chairman’s sincere outpour and added that, the fact that a large chunk of resources has been expended on acquisition of equipment amidst economic recession, is enough reason why the agency must not fail to deliver.
