In an attempt to stamp authority over land ownership, scores of Odua Peoples’ Congress (OPC) members in Isokan Local Government Area, Osun State were reportedly injured following the land boundary fight between two communities.
It was gathered that one man identified as Jagun who headed a factional OPC group from Apomu community mobilised its members to the boundary while one Akerele mobilised OPC members from Ikoyi to counter the other around 6 PM on Monday overland boundary.
Our reporter gathered that in the process of the show of force for territorial supremacy, scores were injured as the fight continued at the early hours of Tuesday.
The spokesperson of Osun State Police Command, Mrs Yemisi Opalola confirmed the clash.
She said, “fractional OPC members from Ikoyi and Apomu communities converged at their common boundary for territorial supremacy. Calmness has returned to the land because we have invited OPC leaders and the leaders of the two communities have been invited for a peace treaty.
Similarly, the Chairman of Isokan Local Government Area, Mr Akeem Oladeni, confirmed that the matter has been resolved and we have signed a peace treaty.
The Osun State OPC coordinator, Ayodeji Aladeshewe noted that peace has returned to the areas.
