Ministry of Innovation, Science and Technology, has said that Nigeria’s partnership with the Republic of Russia will strengthen the socioeconomic relations of both countries.
Nko-Asanye said this when officials from the Embassy of the Russian Federation, led by the Senior Counselor on Trade and Economic Section, Sergei Pliushchov, visited her in Abuja on Wednesday.
She said the bilateral relationship between the two countries in the areas of space technology, agriculture, science engineering and mathematics (STEM) needed to be strengthened.
According to her, science does not operate in isolation, hence the need for nations to collaborate in order to strengthen bilateral relationship among them.
She said that her ministry was interested in participating in Russian scientific and other research related fields training, especially in the area of space technology in Russia.
She commended the Russian Government for extending the training request to the ministry, noting that Russia has interest in the development of Nigeria.
Earlier, Pliushchov, the Senior Counsellor on Trade and Economic Section of the Embassy of the Russian Federation, said that the Russia was ready to collaborate with Nigeria.
He said the collaboration would also facilitate the training and re-training of scientific experts for improved productivity in the Country.
He added that Russia, through her Embassy in Nigeria, engaged Russian online experts for technical development of skills for Nigerians in various fields.
