NIOB kickstarts Builders Week with advocacy visits to Julius Berger, Lubell Construction site 

The 2024 edition of the Annual Builders Week of the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) kicked off Monday with advocacy visits to the head office of Julius Berger and construction site of Lubell Construction, in Abuja, where the National President of the Institute restated the commitment of the institute to ensuring compliance and professionalism in the industry.

 

While thanking the Management of Julius Berger for the warm reception accorded the NIOB Team, President of the Institute, Bldr. Alderton Ewa Ewa commended Julius Barger for adhering to best practices in the industry, saying that the NIOB will continue to work with responsible organizations toward the promotion of the building profession.

 

“On behalf of the Nigerian Institute of Building, I wish to express our appreciation for the opportunity given to us to visit and establish closer ties with the revered Julius Berger Nigeria.”

 

He said the Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) will continue to provide direction and seek to influence policy matters through its advocacy, adding that it will improve the institute’s standing and wellbeing of its members.

 

Bldr Ewa Ewa, who described Julius Berger as a major stakeholder in the building and construction industry said the NIOB will work with the organization to ensure entrenchment of professionalism while attaining the goals of the Institute.

 

“We will work with Julius Berger to provide sustainable shelter that will address the housing needs of the nation through research, development and global best practices,” he stated.

 

NIOB President further commended Julius Berger for creating jobs to Registered Builders: “As an Institute, we appreciate the opportunity given to a number of our members to be part of your labor force and even occupying key positions,” he said, adding that the integral role played by the company in shaping the groundwork for progress through construction of significant industrial and civil infrastructure is commendable.

 

He said, “Julius Berger has built key road networks, essential bridges, vital buildings and important manufacturing facilities, all of which augment the advancement of a modern-day Nigeria,” adding that the company should support the ongoing construction of the Institute’s Skills and Research Development Center at Lugbe, Abuja, which is at the Foundation level.

 

“Julius Berger also has the opportunity to facilitate joint workshops and seminars on sustainable building practices, participate in NIOB events and conferences and facilitate research projects related to materials and construction methods.”

 

He acknowledged the over 50 years contribution of Julius Berger to the development of the Nigerian construction industry.

 

Addressing the Management of Lubell construction company at the Mall Construction Site of the company, Bldr Ewa Ewa, who led the NIOB team to inspect the building production process adopted in the ongoing construction of the multipurpose mall, commended the management of the company for adhering to standards, stating that Lubell is one of the best in housekeeping. This he said is with regards to the health and safety protocols observed on the project site.

 

He also hailed Lubell for its penchant for professionalism in the industry. This, he said the company exemplified in the inclusion of large number of Registered Builders at its mid and top management levels.
