The Judiciary Staff Union of Nigeria (JUSUN), Osun State Branch, has announced the suspension of its strike, which lasted for three months, following interventions from stakeholders.
In a statement released yesterday, the state chairman, Idris Adeniran, confirmed that the decision to suspend the strike was a result of a meeting convened by the Director of the Department of State Security Service.
This meeting included key figures such as Chief Judge, Justice Adepele Ojo, Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Oluwole Jimi-Bada SAN, the NLC Chairman, Comrade Christopher Arapasopo, and JNC Chairman, Comrade Olalekan Adediran.
JUSUN had initially gone on strike on September 19, 2025, due to unmet demands from the Judicial Service Commission (JSC).
Adeniran explained that the JSC has now rectified the 2024 promotion of junior staff, prompting affected members to appear before the commission on Tuesday, December 16, 2025.
He said the JSC has requested a list of eligible members for the 2025 promotion exercise, with those members expected to attend a meeting on Wednesday, December 17, 2025.
He disclosed that the suspension of the strike will take effect from December 16, 2025, allowing union members to participate in the promotion process. Adeniran noted that this temporary suspension aims to enable management to address the backlog of work within all courts in the Osun State Judiciary.
“We urge the management to collaborate with the Heads of High Courts, Magistrates’ Courts, District Customary Courts, and Customary Courts to ensure a smooth resumption of duties following the Christmas break,” he added.
