Peter Obi Meets U.S Consul General, Rick Swart

Former Labour Party presidential candidate, Peter Obi, on Monday held a meeting with the United States Consul General in Nigeria, Rick Swart.

Truthng reports that the meeting took place in Lagos State.

According to Obi in a statement, their discussions, which he described as very productive, focused on promoting credible elections in Nigeria, ensuring free and fair elections, and fostering a political space where all political parties, especially opposition parties can thrive, and contribute.

He added that they also discussed trade and business opportunities between Nigeria and the U.S.

The former Governor of Anambra State was accompanied to the meeting by Dr Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo.

He wrote, “This morning, in Lagos, I met with the U.S. Consul General, Mr Rick Swart, where we discussed strengthening the bilateral relationship. We focused on promoting credible elections in Nigeria, ensuring they are free from interference, and fostering a space where all political parties, especially opposition parties can thrive, and contribute.

“We also discussed trade and business opportunities between our countries. Accompanying me to the meeting was Dr Adefolaseye Adebomi Adebayo.

“The discussion was very productive, and we are hopeful that, moving forward, Nigeria’s elections will be even more credible and transparent.”
