A celebrated philanthropist, Mr. Divine Igwe, has launched a life-changing scholarship scheme for 13 indigent undergraduates in Ezza North Local Government Area of Ebonyi State, further deepening his commitment to education, youth development, and community upliftment.
The event, held on Friday at Umuoghara, marked a significant milestone in Igwe’s expanding humanitarian efforts. Speaking at the ceremony, he explained that the initiative is part of his multi-dimensional, life-touching programmes designed to improve literacy, reduce school dropouts, and secure a better future for young people in the state.
In addition to unveiling the scholarship scheme, Igwe also launched his new humanitarian organisation—the Dr. Divine Igwe Impact Foundation—and announced the establishment of a youth football club.
According to him, the football club will provide meaningful engagement for young people, help identify and nurture talents, curb crime, and empower youths toward self-reliance.
Igwe noted that his inspiration for the scholarship and other interventions came from the compassionate leadership of Governor Francis Nwifuru and his wife, whom he praised for their dedication to human-centered governance.
He described the scholarship as an investment in the long-term prosperity of Ebonyi State, urging other well-meaning citizens, philanthropists, and privileged individuals to contribute to shaping a brighter future for their communities.
“Today is a day of expanding hope; today is a day of scaling up our impact; today is about building a future where no one is left behind,” Igwe emphasized.
Speaking further at the event, the National Coordinator of the Foundation, Ibiam Azu Agwu, shed light on its mission, vision, and operational philosophy. He said the organisation is firmly built on the core values of compassion, integrity, service, equity, and sustainability.
According to Agwu, the Foundation is committed to providing accessible healthcare, promoting education and mentorship, supporting community and economic empowerment, enhancing security, and strengthening agricultural development.
He reaffirmed that the Dr. Divine Igwe Impact Foundation—duly registered as a non-governmental, non-profit, and non-political body—was established to “restore hope, uplift the vulnerable, and drive transformational development by bringing together partners, donors, volunteers, caregivers, and community members to create a better tomorrow.”
The ceremony concluded with excitement and renewed optimism as beneficiaries, community leaders, and supporters hailed the initiative as a beacon of hope for marginalized students and a bold step toward youth empowerment in Ebonyi State.
