President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, on his 60th birthday, describing him as a seasoned media professional who has strengthened public communication under his administration.
In a State House press statement which he personally signed, the President said: “I heartily congratulate Mohammed Idris Malagi… on his 60th birthday,” noting that the minister has distinguished himself as “an excellent communicator, public relations executive, and media leader who has brought finesse, credibility, and gravitas to public communication in our administration.”
Tinubu emphasised that Idris’ standing in the media industry long predates his ministerial role.
“His reputation precedes him,” the President said, adding that he has been “at the forefront of the media and public relations industry as the founder and publisher of Blueprint Newspapers and as the chairman of a successful public relations consultancy and broadcast media outfit.”
The President also highlighted Idris’ contribution to the industry through his role as General Secretary of the Newspaper Proprietors’ Association of Nigeria (NPAN).
According to him, the position “distinguished him as a patriot and valued partner in nation-building.”
Commending his performance in office, Tinubu said: “I commend Mohammed for his diligence, brilliance and doggedness in communicating the achievements, policies, and programmes of our administration.”
He further praised the minister’s commitment to promoting government initiatives nationwide, stating that “he has been steadfast in disseminating the message of Renewed Hope throughout the nation,” while urging him to “keep up the good work.”
“As Mohammed celebrates this milestone birthday, I join his family and friends in wishing him more years of good health and strength as he continues to serve the nation,” the President added.
Idris clocked 60 on May 2, 2026.
