….Seeks Support To Move Jamb To Its Next Phase Of Development
The Registrar, fondly known as PSA, began the visits on Tuesday, 11 August 2026, with a visit to the residence of the second Registrar of the Board, Dr. Mohammed Abdulrahman, in Kaduna. He thereafter proceeded to Kano, where he met with the third Registrar, Prof. Bello Salim, before continuing to Ilorin, Kwara State, where he visited the fourth and fifth Registrars, Prof. Dibu Ojerinde and Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, respectively.
Speaking during the visits, Prof. Aina explained that the initiative was part of his commitment to running an inclusive administration that draws from the institutional memory, experience and wisdom of those who had previously led the Board. He commended the former Registrars for the sacrifices, innovations and administrative contributions they made during their respective tenures, noting that JAMB would not have attained its present status without their.
He stressed that the experience of the former Registrars remained invaluable to the Board and expressed his determination to build on the strong foundations laid by previous administrations while introducing innovations that would position JAMB for greater efficiency, technological advancement service delivery.
In Kano, Prof. Bello Salim, who served as Registrar from 1996 to 2006, warmly received Prof. Aina into his home, describing the visit as a homecoming. He recalled his longstanding relationship with the Registrar, including the period when Prof. Aina was a student and interacted with his children.
Prof. Salim prayed for divine guidance, exceptional wisdom and the strength for Prof. Aina to achieve even greater accomplishments than those recorded by previous administrations. “You have started well, and once the foundation of a building is solid, the building will be strong,” he stated. Dr. Mohammed Abdulrahman, who served as Registrar from 1986 to 1996, also commended Prof. Aina for the thoughtful management approach demonstrated by his decision to consult former Registrars. He pledged to continue to pray for and support the Board whenever necessary. Describing JAMB as an institution that remained very dear to him, Dr. Abdulrahman expressed his desire to see the Board continue to excel. He urged the Registrar to sustain the administration’s mantra, particularly its emphasis on the w e l f a r e a n d i n t e r e s t s o f c a n d i d a t e s .
At the residence of the immediate past Registrar, Prof. Is-haq Oloyede, Prof. Aina explained that his visit was not only to seek his counsel and support but also to personally check on his welfare and find out how he was doing. “Having served the nation for such a long period, it is necessary that your welfare should matter to us,” the Registrar said. Prof. Oloyede, who served as Registrar from 2016 to 2026, commended Prof. Aina for the ingenuity and purposefulness he had demonstrated within his first two weeks in office.
He assured his successor that he would, in whatever capacity God had entrusted him with, remain committed to ensuring that he succeeded. He disclosed that Prof. Aina had very good hands around him who could contribute significantly to his success, advising the Registrar to tolerate those who would have the courage to tell him the unpleasant truth when necessary. Prof. Oloyede expressed confidence that the new Registrar had commenced his tenure on a strong footing and encouraged him to remain focused on his mission for the Board.
At the residence of Prof. Dibu Ojerinde, Prof. Aina expressed his appreciation for the former Registrar’s service to the nation, particularly recalling his personal role in facilitating his one-year National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) assignment at JAMB. The Registrar acknowledged that the opportunity to serve in JAMB during his NYSC year had played a significant role in shaping his career and, ultimately, the person he had become. Prof. Aina thanked Prof. Ojerinde for the opportunity and for the services he had rendered to the nation through his leadership of the Board.
Prof. Ojerinde, who expressed surprise and appreciation at the visit, said the task ahead would undoubtedly be demanding but expressed confidence that Prof. Aina would succeed.
