House of Representatives aspirant, Segun Tomori, has called on members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II to support his bid ahead of the party’s primary election, pledging to unite the party and reclaim the seat from the opposition.
In a statement issued on Thursday, Tomori said the constituency needed “a breath of fresh air” following the party’s defeat in the last general election, which he attributed to internal divisions and weak mobilisation.
According to him, rival factions within the party had deepened political tensions in the constituency, making the need for a unifying figure more urgent ahead of the next election.
“The choice is both stark and crucial because we lost this constituency to the opposition in the last election, amongst other electoral upsets in parts of Lagos,” he said.
“Our defeat was bolstered by internal divisions within the party; warring factions of diverse camps fighting for supremacy, and a lacklustre incumbent lacking the gravitas and energy to rally constituents behind the party.”
The former Special Assistant on Media to the Minister of Solid Minerals Development said the party must move away from what he described as “the old order” and embrace new leadership capable of rebuilding confidence among party members and constituents.
“In the midst of all these, our people and our party yearn for a departure from the old order — from the same uninspiring actors who have held the party hostage and stifled its growth,” he stated.
Tomori said his decision to contest was driven by the need to provide leadership that would unite stakeholders across the constituency and strengthen the APC ahead of the general election.
“That is why I have stepped into this race: to offer the much-needed breath of fresh air,” he said.
“My mission is not to take sides with warring factions but to offer myself as a unifier with the pedigree, experience, capacity, and influence needed to heal divisions within our party, reclaim the constituency from the opposition, and deliver transformative representation.”
He urged party members and leaders across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II to support his aspiration during the APC House of Representatives primary scheduled for Friday.
“I, therefore, call on our leaders and party faithful across Oshodi-Isolo Constituency II to come out en masse and vote for me, Segun Tomori (SET), as the flag bearer of our great party,” he added.
Tomori expressed confidence that with unity and collective support, the party could regain the constituency and open “a fresh chapter of progress and unity.”
