Wednesday March 13 for Builders Day, says NIOB

The Nigerian Institute of Building (NIOB) says Wednesday March 13 is 2024 Builders Day, adding that professional builders will be joined by building enthusiasts, real estate developers, building materials manufacturers and other stakeholders to celebrate the profession in a six-day activities lined up to commemorate the Building Profession.

A statement, signed by the National Publicity Secretary of the Institute, Bldr. Omale Peter Ameh, made available to our correspondent in Abuja, on Wednesday, disclosed the theme of Year 2024 Builders’ Day, saying: “’The Role of Builders In Sustainable Housing Delivery’, and it has been carefully chosen to serve as a call to Builders and the general public in a time like this when the quest for professionalism and flawless service delivery cannot be overemphasized in the industry.”

“Although March 13 is Builders Day, however, the entire week is lined up with activities,” he stated.

According to the National Publicity Secretary, “the activities are designed as a holistic approach that will sustainably address the challenges of the country’s building construction industry,” adding that the Institute will work with all relevant stakeholders to chart a way forward for the industry.

According to Builder Ameh, the six-day event, which is scheduled to begin Monday March 11, with a courtesy visitation to active construction sites in Abuja, has other engaging activities, adding that Builders and enthusiasts of the profession will pay courtesy visit to Government agencies.

“On Wednesday March 13, the NIOB will convene a World Press Conference to be addressed by the National President of the NIOB, Sir Bldr Alderton Ewa Ewa fniob,” in Abuja, adding that Thursday March 14 is a day set aside for NIOB Road Show, another major public activity that will enhance the visibility of professional builders.

As a team, the NIOB Members will observe the Jumat Prayers, and then continue the Catch Them Young activities it began on Tuesday, he said, adding that the Builders Week ends on Sunday March 17, with a thanksgiving service.

Discussing the significance of the activities to the public, the National Publicity Secretary explained that housing is a need for all lives, stating that the importance of engaging professional builders will be brought to the fore during the activities.

“It’s a six-day activity that will touch on various issues. If you aspire to build a house, please join us, you will have a lot to learn from the various segments of the activities,” he stated, adding that very insightful and resourceful lectures await participants.
