Alhaji Ibrahim Dada, Chairman, Niger Tornadoes Football Club of Minna has called on the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) to appoint Augustine Eguavoen as the head coach of the Super Eagles.
Dada made the call on Saturday in Minna while fielding questions from members of the state chapter of the Sports Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN).
He said that going by Eguavoen’s experience as a player who played for the national team and a coach, he has the capacity to manage the Super Eagles.
“I think it is good Eguavoen should continue to manage our national team.
“Recently Eguavoen was saddled with the responsibility of handling the team in two matches, and he won one and drew one, not to mention his past records as a coach.
“Therefore, in my own opinion, he has tried, so let him continue,” he said.
TRUTHNG reports that Eguavoen is the current Technical Director of the NFF.
He was appointed the interim coach of the Super Eagles for the two 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers against the Benin Republic and Rwanda.
Eguavoen was appointed following the inability of the federation to secure the services of German coach, Bruno Labbadia, over what they call stringent German tax laws.
Eguavoen led Nigeria to a convincing 3-0 win over the Benin Republic in Uyo, Akwa Ibom, and was held to a goalless draw in the second game of the series by Rwanda on Tuesday.
